On July 12, 2020, Wazito FC owner Ricardo Badoer revealed a shift in the club's transfer strategy, focusing on young and talented players for the upcoming window.
According to Badoer, the club will no longer pursue high-profile players, instead seeking out emerging talents who can drive the team towards its goal of securing its first Kenyan Premier League title.
"The plan is different now. We are looking to sign some good emerging players from other teams, these are young hungry players. We want players who want to play football for Wazito," Badoer stated on the club's website.
Wazito's decision comes after releasing 12 underperforming players last week, citing the harsh effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for a fresh start.
Among the released players were Victor Ndinya, Teddy Osok, Derrick Otanga, Lloyd Wahome, and goalkeepers Steve Njung'e and Kevin Omondi, as well as non-Kenyan players Augustine Otu, Piscas Kirenge, Issioffu Bourahana, and Paul Acquah.
Additionally, veteran striker Paul Kiongera left the club after negotiations to extend his contract failed, while British coach Stewart Hall departed on mutual consent.
