On July 12, 2020, Kenya marked a significant milestone in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, with the number of cases surpassing the 10,000 mark.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, 379 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 10,105.
The new cases were from a sample size of 7,050, with 376 being Kenyans and three foreigners. The youngest person to test positive was two years old, while the oldest was 97 years old.
Of the new cases, 253 were males and 126 were females. The cases were distributed across various counties, with Nairobi leading the way with 209 cases.
Meanwhile, 49 people were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,881. Unfortunately, one more patient succumbed to the virus, taking the number of deaths to 185.
