COVID-19 Cases Surpass 10,000 in Kenya

Kenya's COVID-19 cases have surpassed 10,000 after 379 new infections were reported on Sunday, July 12, 2020. The country's total number of infections now stands at 10,105.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the new infections were detected in the last 24 hours from a sample of 7,050, bringing the cumulative number of samples to 215,037.

Of the positive cases, 376 are Kenyans while three are foreigners. The age distribution of the new cases shows that 253 are male and 126 are female, with the youngest being a two-year-old and the oldest 97 years.

The new cases are distributed across various counties, with Nairobi recording the highest number of cases at 209, followed by Kiambu with 49 cases.

One more patient has succumbed to COVID-19, bringing the total number of fatalities to 185. Meanwhile, 49 patients have been discharged from various health facilities, taking the total recoveries to 2,881.
