On July 11, 2020, West Ham United's Michail Antonio scored a hat-trick, securing a 4-0 win over Norwich City at Carrow Road, which ultimately sealed the Norfolk club's fate in the Premier League.

With only three games left in the season, Norwich City had 21 points from 35 games, 13 adrift of 17th-placed Watford. This marked the fifth time the club has been relegated from the Premier League.

Manager Daniel Farke, who took over at Norwich in 2017, expressed his disappointment and frustration, stating, "When I came here we needed to develop young players and sell them to keep the club going. We were able to do this."

Farke's side had shown promise early in the campaign, beating defending champions Manchester City, but ultimately lost 24 times this season, more than any other team.

Experienced midfielder Alex Tettey attributed the club's downfall to a lack of consistency, saying, "This club has not been a club that buys well-established players. If you have a group and a collective that you’re trying to create you need to be consistent."

Farke's side will finish the season with games against Chelsea, Burnley, and Manchester City, but it's too late to salvage their Premier League status.
