Published on July 12, 2020, the Kenyan Christian Professional Forum (KCPF) has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta and Chief Justice David Maraga to resolve the ongoing Executive-Judiciary stalemate.
The organisation's chairperson, Charles Kanjama, noted that the refusal by President Kenyatta to appoint 41 judges fronted by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) was a serious breach of the constitution.
The KCPF has called for mediation between the two institutions to facilitate a quick resolution to the standoff, with the organisation expressing its readiness to support any mediation initiatives.
At the same time, the organisation has asked the Judiciary to enhance its services to the people of Kenya, particularly during the pandemic, to enable litigants to seek justice.
These calls come weeks after the Attorney General, Kihara Kariuki, accused the Chief Justice of taking a personal slant in his public attacks on the president, citing pre-emptive and prejudicial statements about matters already in court.
