On Sunday, July 19, 2020, the Catholic Church in Kenya will resume its services, as announced by His Eminence John Cardinal Njue.
As part of the reopening plan, Cardinal Njue has outlined strict guidelines for faithfuls to follow, including restrictions on congregation size and age limits for attendees.
The guidelines, which are in addition to government restrictions, aim to ensure a safe and healthy environment for worship.
According to the guidelines, mass will be limited to one hour, singing will be restricted to liturgical actions, and the sign of peace will be omitted during communion.
Cardinal Njue has also instructed parish leaders to form a COVID-19 response team to assist with enforcing the rules.
"I urge you to take these guidelines seriously so that we may adequately prepare the faithful for the second phase of the reopening of our places of worship," Cardinal Njue said in a statement.
