On a fateful night, a devastating fire swept through Haresa village on the outskirts of Mandera town, claiming the life of a three-year-old girl and leaving eight families without a home.

The inferno, which lasted for three hours, destroyed everything in its path, including household goods and food supplies.

Resident Ahmed Bore described the scene as nothing short of catastrophic, with families forced to sleep in the cold after the fire destroyed their homes.

Fortunately, the Kenya Red Cross Society responded swiftly to the families' call for help, providing them with essential household goods and food supplies.

According to Adan Mustafa of the Red Cross, the hot weather exacerbated the fire, which gutted the entire village.

Mustafa added that the families have received food, beddings, and other essential household items to help them get back on their feet.

Security agents in the region have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze, which remains a mystery.

As the families struggle to come to terms with their loss, they are also facing the added challenge of a nationwide curfew imposed by the government.
