Published on July 12, 2020, residents of Kariobangi South are demanding mass testing in their area following the quarantine of a family on Saturday night.

A woman, her two children, and a house help were taken to a quarantine facility after a family member tested positive for COVID-19.

The family's husband, a health worker at a public hospital in Nairobi, was mysteriously absent, with health officials refusing to disclose his whereabouts.

According to a police source, health officials found lemons under one of the family's beds, suggesting they may have been attempting to treat COVID-19 with the citrus fruit.

The use of lemons as a supposed COVID-19 treatment gained traction after Tanzania's President John Magufuli claimed his son had recovered from the virus after consuming lemon concoctions.
