Published on July 12, 2020, a recovered Coronavirus patient from Isiolo County is seeking Sh25 million compensation from the county government.

Osman Shariff, a 62-year-old wholesale vendor and matatu owner, blames the county government for the stigma he experienced following his recovery.

Shariff claims that hospital staff who attended to him at the Garbatula Hospital shared his photos on social media, revealing his Covid-19 status.

As a result, Shariff's businesses have suffered significantly, with members of the public avoiding his wholesale shops and passengers shunning his matatus.

His daughter was even allegedly beaten by members of the public in Maua town, who accused her of being from an infected family.

Isiolo Governor Mohamed Kuti has acknowledged Shariff's concerns and asked for forgiveness from the resident.
