Uasin Gishu County was on Saturday evening the scene of a major anti-terrorism operation, as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU), and Special Services Unit (SSU) arrested two terror suspects.

The suspects, identified as Mohamed Ahmed Bisher, 59, a Kenyan, and Nasanga Ibrahim, 68, a foreign national, were apprehended in Chepkatet village, Kapseret Sub-County.

During the operation, the detectives recovered assorted explosives, detonators, detonating cords, safety fuses, and boosters.

The suspects are currently in custody as the multi-agency team of detectives begins investigations into the matter.

It is believed that the two might have been targeting the Eldoret International Airport, given their location near the facility.

Meanwhile, residents of Greenfields Kiburgei in Soy Constituency are living in fear after a gang broke into five homes on Wednesday night, harassing villagers and making off with household goods and electronic items.

One resident, Mr. Paul Kiptoo, recounted the traumatic experience, saying, 'I was awakened by a loud bang on the door. The gang that was armed with sharp objects and very bright torches broke into my home and injured my two sons in the midnight attack that lasted about 25 minutes.'
