John Keige, a prominent Nairobi businessman and owner of popular establishments Jiweke Tavern and Bourbon, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, due to a heart attack.

According to a representative from the restaurant, Keige was pronounced dead upon arrival at Nairobi Hospital after collapsing outside his home in Nyari Estate shortly after having lunch.

Speculations arose that the businessman might have died of Covid-19, but the exact cause of his death remains unclear.

Keige's Jiweke Tavern, located off Ngong Road in Nairobi, has been in the news for its exceptional service provision and has maintained a strong reputation in the city.

As reported in November, the tavern's entertainment consultant, Dan Paps, highlighted the importance of good service in creating a lasting impact on customers.

The final send-off for John Keige will take place on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at his home in Murang'a.
