On July 11, 2020, police in Eldoret were on high alert after discovering chemicals believed to be bomb-making materials in a house in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County.
According to Kapseret sub-county police commander Patrick Manyasi, the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ASTU) was acting on intelligence reports when they raided the house.
The team, comprising officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and regular police, recovered electronic gadgets and items believed to be used to make explosives.
Two suspects, a 68-year-old Ugandan and a 59-year-old Kenyan farmer from Chepkatet village, were taken into custody and are set to be questioned by anti-terror police in Nairobi.
The materials found in the house included two boxes of TNT chemical, each weighing two kilogrammes, and 44 pieces of what was labelled as noble explosives.
