Norwich Relegated from Premier League as Four-Goal Antonio Lifts West Ham

On July 11, 2020, Norwich City suffered a record fifth relegation from the Premier League after a 4-0 loss to West Ham United at Carrow Road.

Michail Antonio's four-goal performance was instrumental in West Ham's win, which boosted their own survival bid in the Premier League.

Norwich City's relegation was sealed with a seventh successive league defeat, leaving them 13 points from safety with only three games left in the season.

The Canaries have become accustomed to relegation in the Premier League era, having gone down on four previous occasions in 1995, 2005, 2014, and 2016.

Despite their relegation, Norwich City manager Daniel Farke was already resigned to the outcome, given the team's poor performance since the coronavirus hiatus.

Farke stated, 'We wanted to beat the odds again, but when the dust settles, the outcome is more or less what was expected. It doesn't take anything away from the fact that we are disappointed.'

West Ham's win was a huge lift to their hopes of staying up, with the team now six points above the bottom three with three games left against Watford, Manchester United, and Aston Villa.

Michail Antonio's performance was a highlight of the match, with the striker scoring four goals in West Ham's 4-0 win.

Antonio's first goal came in the 11th minute, volleying into the roof of the net from close-range after meeting Issa Diop's flick from Jarrod Bowen's corner.

He completed his hat-trick in the 54th minute, looping a header into the net after Tim Krul saved his initial effort.

Antonio's fourth goal came in the 74th minute, coolly finishing from Ryan Fredericks' cross.

Meanwhile, Watford improved their survival prospects with a 2-1 win against Newcastle at Vicarage Road, thanks to two penalties from Troy Deeney.
