Laikipia County Reports COVID-19 Death

A 70-year-old patient with a pre-existing medical condition has died shortly after testing positive for the novel coronavirus in Laikipia County, Kenya.

The patient was receiving treatment at Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital, where she developed respiratory tract infection and was subjected to a syndrome testing for COVID-19, which returned positive.

According to a statement by the Laikipia County government, the patient had no history of travel, but people close to her had a travel history in the days to admission.

As of Saturday, July 11, 9,726 cases of the disease had been confirmed in the country, with 2,832 recoveries and 184 reported deaths.

The body of the deceased was interred on Saturday, July 11, in line with the Ministry of Health's protocols and guidelines.

The Laikipia County government has encouraged citizens to remain vigilant, responsible, and adhere to all the laid guidelines and directives from the government and report any cases they may come across.
