On July 11, 2020, the death of ohangla queen Maureen Achieng, popularly known as Lady Maureen, sparked a lot of reactions from citizens. The celebrated singer passed away at her home in Uriri, Migori County, a week after being discharged from hospital.

According to Robert Alai, a popular blogger, Lady Maureen's death is her own fault. Alai took to his Twitter handle to reveal that the singer died of HIV/AIDS, claiming she refused to accept her positive status and take the medication.

Alai pointed out that no one should be blamed for Lady Maureen's death, stating that Raila shouldn't be blamed for not helping her. He shared an anecdote about how he once forced a young guy to start taking ARVs with the help of Andrew Suleh.

Alai's statement has sparked a lot of debate, with some citizens blaming leaders for not helping Lady Maureen when she needed their help most.
