Willy Paul, the owner of Saldido International and a controversial singer, has addressed claims that he has started selling potatoes to make ends meet during the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Willy Paul, the claims are false and it is actually his manager who has started the potato business.

“Me, potato business? Ni manager wangu ndio amefungua hiyo biz. Ako na shamba kubwa Nakuru so yeye ndio ana supply mahoteli kubwa na masoko” the former gospel singer clarified, referring to his manager.

Willy Paul also addressed reports that Diamond Platnumz's record label, Wasafi (WCB), has been trying to sign him as their first foreign artiste.

“Why would I be signed by Wasafi when I have a label Saldido International. Sijawahi kuwa na deal na Wasafi, tumefanya tu biashara za ma-songs” he explained.

Additionally, Willy Paul spoke about his beef with gospel singers Ringtone and Bahati, who have been critical of him.

“Mimi sina shida na huyo kijana (Ringtone). Kuhusu bwana ya Diana, hatujawahi kosana na Bahati, mimi naheshimu bwana za watu sana,” he chided.

Willy Paul has also confirmed that he has quit gospel music, citing the influence of “gospel industry cartels” who were unhappy with his success.

His latest song, Roho Mbaya, featuring Tanzanian singer Ruby, is part of his upcoming album Songs of Solomon.
