Ohangla Musician Lady Maureen Dies in Migori

On Saturday morning, popular Ohangla musician Maureen Achieng, known as Lady Maureen, died in Uriri, Migori County, where she had been recuperating after being discharged from Pastor Machage Memorial Hospital in Migori.

Her sister, Bella Achieng, shared the news of her demise, revealing that Lady Maureen had been treated at the hospital.

Lady Maureen was a renowned musician behind hits such as Jogi Jokuoge, Alemo, Gor Kogallo, and Raila, among others.

ODM leader Raila Odinga paid tribute to the late songstress, describing her as an immensely talented and dynamic musician who adapted to new trends in the competitive music industry.

Kisumu county leaders, led by Governor Anyang' Nyong'o and Senator Fred Outa, sent condolence messages to the family of the fallen musician.

According to Governor Nyong'o, Lady Maureen's death was a great loss to the Ohangla fraternity and the Luo music community, coming just weeks after the passing of two Luo musicians, Benard Onyango (Abenny Jachiga) and Erick Omondi Odit (Omondi Long Lilo).

He added that Lady Maureen will be remembered for her musical talent that gave benga music a modern twist, warming many hearts.

Senator Outa remembered Lady Maureen as a songbird who composed numerous political praise songs.
