On Friday evening, police in Bahati apprehended a 50-year-old man linked to the murder of his ex-wife in Solai, Rongai Sub County.
According to Bahati MCA John Njuguna, the suspect was cornered by residents who had learned of the incident and handed him over to the police.
"The suspect, known as Kariuki, stabbed his ex-wife at a maize plantation in Solai. He later informed his son of the incident, who then told residents, prompting a manhunt that led to Kariuki's arrest on Friday evening," said Njuguna.
Following the arrest, the residents launched a search mission for the missing woman, identified as Martha.
"At around 11pm, locals were combing through her maize farm and stumbled upon her dead body," Njuguna stated.
Separately, a mother, son, and daughter are receiving treatment at Tenwek Hospital after they were attacked by their mentally ill father.
Kuresoi North Sub-County Police Commander Henry Nyarangi confirmed the incident, stating that the man woke up his wife and attempted to stab her.
"It was around 6am when Simon Ruto descended on his wife, Jenifer, with a knife while in bed but missed her," said Nyarangi.
The family's daughter, Mercy Cherotich, intervened but was also attacked, sustaining a deep cut on the head.
On hearing the scuffle, Hillary Cheruiyot, who had rushed to the scene, got stabbed on the thigh while attempting to retrieve the knife from his father.
"The three are in stable condition and receiving treatment at Tenwek Hospital. The suspect is being held at Olenguruone Police Station," said Nyarangi.
