On July 11, 2020, socialite Vera Sidika posted a photo of a gun next to her stylish Louis Vuitton bag on social media, sparking concerns about her actions.
According to reports, Vera flaunted the firearm while issuing a warning to her detractors, captioning the post, "Bad energy stay far away."
However, what Vera may not know is that owning a firearm in Kenya comes with a hefty price tag, ranging from Sh100, 000 to Sh350, 000 when purchased legally.
Moreover, improper exhibition of a firearm could land her into legal trouble, as Article 88 of the penal code prohibits brandishing of weapons in public, stating that "any person who goes armed in public without lawful occasion in such a manner as to cause terror to any person is guilty of a misdemeanour, and his arms may be forfeited."
