On July 11, 2020, the Kenyan government issued a directive limiting the number of worshippers in places of worship to 100, in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

However, places of worship have refused to reopen, citing a challenge in adhering to this directive.

According to reports, the places of worship are finding it difficult to implement the new measures, which include limiting the number of worshippers and maintaining social distancing.

As a result, many places of worship have decided to remain closed until further notice.
