Maureen Achieng, the talented Ohangla singer known as Lady Maureen, has left a lasting legacy in the music industry. Born in 1984, she rose to fame with her unique style and compositions that praised prominent leaders, including Raila Odinga and former US Senator Barack Obama.

Published on July 11, 2020, her fifth album, 'Raila Roho,' was a testament to her creativity and adaptability in a competitive music industry. However, her life took a turn for the worse in 2018 when she fell ill and was in and out of the hospital seeking treatment.

On Saturday morning, Lady Maureen passed away at her cousin's house in Uriri, Migori county. Her untimely death has sent shockwaves across the nation, with many mourning the loss of a talented artist.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Siaya Senator James Orengo have joined the chorus of tributes, paying their respects to the late singer. In a heartfelt message, Raila Odinga said, 'My condolences go out to the family, friends, and fans of Lady Maureen. Achieng' was immensely talented and very dynamic; always adapting to new trends in a very competitive music industry. May she Rest In Eternal Peace.'

Senator Orengo also eulogized Lady Maureen, saying, 'My heart goes out to the family, friends, and fans of the Queen of Ohangla, Lady Moureen. “When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure” we shall all miss her voice and sight but never from our hearts as we listen to her inspiring and educative music.'
