July 11, 2020 - The music industry in Kenya has lost a talented artist with the passing of Ohangla musician Lady Maureen.
According to reports, Lady Maureen, whose real name is Maureen Ochieng, passed away at around 3am on Saturday morning at her home in Uriri, Migori county.
Her sister, Bella Achieng, confirmed the news, stating that Lady Maureen had been treated at the Pastor Machage Memorial Hospital in Migori before being discharged and recovering at home.
Lady Maureen was a renowned musician behind chart-topping hits such as Jogi Jokuoge, Alemo, Gor Kogallo, and Raila, among others.
Her death has been mourned by many, including ODM leader Raila Odinga, who described her as an immensely talented star who held her fort in a dynamic music industry.
"My condolences go out to the family, friends, and fans of Lady Maureen. Achieng' was immensely talented and very dynamic; always adapting to new trends in a very competitive music industry. May she Rest In Eternal Peace," Raila Odinga tweeted.
