Deputy President William Ruto has been secretly planning to sabotage the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) project, which aims to unite Kenyans ahead of the 2022 general elections.
According to an inside source, Ruto has been recruiting foot soldiers, including civil society and church groups, to reject and resist any proposal in the BBI report advocating for a referendum.
The DP's strategy involves having a strong team that will be able to counter any proposal in the BBI report, which is expected to be released soon.
Head of Law and Policy in the office of Deputy President Dr. Korir Sungoei has been tasked to coordinate the activities of the team, which includes Ruto's Information Officer Emmanuel Tallam, Dennis Itumbi, and Farouk Kibet.
The team has already recruited several National Assembly Members, including Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro and Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali.
Other groups that have joined the team include Okoa Kenya, Dock Workers Union, Transporters Summit, Muhuri, Ujamaa, Mwamko Mpya, Ukombozi wa Pwani, and Maritime Stakeholders.
Ruto has also been meeting with church delegations and youths from various constituencies in Nairobi county to discuss the same agenda of shooting down the BBI project.
