On Saturday, 11 July, the music world lost a talented artist, Lady Maureen, the popular ohangla hitmaker. Her death has left fans and fellow musicians in mourning.
Engineer Wuod Fibi, a fellow Luo artist, confirmed the news on his Facebook page, stating, 'We have lost a hero.. another blow to the Luo Music industry and Kenya at large. Rest in Peace Lady Maureen.'
Wuod Fibi also shared a heartfelt message, 'This was the last song I did for you the queen of Ohangla, it was a prophetic song and a goodbye song. Rest in peace Mama. Your legacy will forever live on.'
Earlier this year, Lady Maureen was admitted to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital after being transferred from a hospital in Migori. She was discharged on 20 February after showing significant improvement in her health.
However, her family had previously dismissed rumors of her death in June, with her mother, Mary Akinyi, stating, 'She is not dead, she is alive. We have also heard the rumors and are wondering where all this information is coming from.'
The news of Lady Maureen's passing comes as a shock to her fans and the music industry, and she will be deeply missed.
