Published on July 11, 2020, Deputy President William Ruto's allies have embarked on a plan to deny Jubilee Party funds, arguing the party has become useless.
According to Soy MP Caleb Kositany, who doubles up as Jubilee Party deputy secretary-general, there is no need for political parties to be funded by taxpayers when they cannot be held accountable.
"Political parties have lost meaning and therefore there is no need for taxpayers to continue funding them. Let leaders be elected on as individuals and not the basis of party affiliation," Kositany said.
His sentiments were echoed by Uasin Gishu Woman Rep Gladys Boss Shollei, who noted that they were waiting for the right time to hold the leadership of Jubilee to account.
The move is seen as a retaliatory attack on the ruling party following a series of disciplinary actions meted on their members.
As Kositany continues to criticize the party, the leadership of Jubilee is said to be finalizing plans to kick him out before the party embarks on serious engagements with other partners ahead of the 2022 polls.
Also on the chopping board is the party's Treasurer Albert Mutai.
