Maureen Achieng, the popular Ohangla musician known as Lady Maureen, has died in Migori, where she was being treated for various ailments.
According to her family, Lady Maureen passed away at 3am on Saturday in Uriri, Migori, after being discharged from Pastor Machage Memorial Hospital in the outskirts of Migori last week.
Her cousin Bella Achieng confirmed her death, stating that Lady Maureen had been in and out of various hospitals since the beginning of the year, battling different kinds of ailments.
Leaders from the region, including Governor Okoth Obado and Migori Woman Representative Dr Pamela Odhiambo, have condoled with the family over her demise.
Dr Odhiambo expressed her condolences, saying, 'I am shocked at the demise of the musician, it is an extremely difficult moment for the family. My sincere condolences.'
Earlier this year, Lady Maureen was stranded at a Kisumu hospital after being discharged, with her caregiver, Ms Nancy Achieng, claiming that the musician's mother was reluctant to take her in due to an unresolved family issue.
However, Lady Maureen's mother denied the claims, stating that she had offered to take care of her daughter after reading singer Akothee's Facebook post asking for help.
