Lady Maureen, a renowned Luo musician and ohangla music queen, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020, after a long illness.

According to her family, Lady Maureen died at Uriri in Migori County, bringing an end to her illustrious music career.

Known for her hit songs such as 'County Waneno' and 'Gor Kogalo', Lady Maureen's music had a significant impact on the Luo community and beyond.

Earlier in the year, social media had been awash with claims of her death on June 23, but the family dispelled the rumors, stating that she was alive and wondering where the information was coming from.

Her demise comes on the backdrop of another Luo musician's death on June 11, Bernard Onyango Obonyo, popularly known as Abenny Jachiga, who succumbed to a short illness at St Jairus Private Hospital.
