Cipla to Distribute Remdesivir in Kenya

On May 1, the US Food and Drug Administration granted Emergency Use Authorisation for remdesivir to treat Covid-19.

Indian firm Cipla has partnered with Gilead Sciences, the patent owner of remdesivir, to manufacture and distribute the drug in 127 countries, including Kenya.

According to Martin Sweeney, Commercial head of Cipla in Sub-Saharan Africa, Cipla will make remdesivir available in Kenya at a significantly reduced price.
