On July 11, 2020, the medical community in Kenya mourned the loss of Dr. Adisa Lugaliki, a young and talented doctor who succumbed to Covid-19.

Dr. Mercy Korir, a colleague and friend, shared the news on social media, describing Dr. Lugaliki as a hardworking doctor who still had so much to offer.

“We have lost one of our own as a doctors' fraternity to Covid-19. A young doctor with so much to offer,” Dr. Korir tweeted.

Dr. Lugaliki served as an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at The Nairobi South Hospital, where she was remembered for her professionalism and dedication to her patients.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) sent a condolence message to the family of Dr. Lugaliki, praising her as a hard-working obstetrician/gynecologist, mother, friend, and colleague.

As the country continues to grapple with the Covid-19 pandemic, health workers like Dr. Lugaliki have been at the forefront of the fight, constantly asking the government to provide enough Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to ensure their safety.

On the same day, the Ministry of Health announced 447 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the national tally to 8,975, and the death toll to 173.
