On June 27th, a devastating tragedy shook a family in Naivasha's Kabati estate when 42-year-old Beatrice Mwende Kimotho strangled to death her four children, Melody Warigia (8), Willy Macharia (6), Samantha Njeri (4), and Whitney Nyambura (2).
Following the incident, Ms. Kimotho was taken into custody and presented to a Naivasha court, where a mental assessment report from Gilgil Mental Hospital revealed underlying issues that rendered her unfit to stand trial.
On Thursday, Justice Richard Mwongo directed that Ms. Kimotho be transferred to Mathare Mental Hospital in Nairobi for treatment, citing the need for her to undergo psychiatric evaluation and care.
The matter will be mentioned on September 23rd, 2020, to determine progress made in her treatment.
