On July 11, 2020, the Nakuru County Health Department confirmed that 17 people had tested positive for Covid-19 at the prestigious St Andrew's School in Molo, Nakuru County.
The cases were discovered after 24 samples were collected from the facility, with the affected individuals including 8 pupils and 9 tutors who had remained at the school since the pandemic broke out in Kenya in March.
According to a source, the 17 are suspected to have been infected with the virus after interacting with a group of visitors who toured the school recently in a private chopper.
Dr. Gichuki Kariuki, the county health executive, stated that the patients are asymptomatic and range in age from one to 46.
"A total of 24 samples were picked from the institution and taken for testing where 17 were found positive. All the patients have been isolated in the school as we begin contact tracing," Dr. Kariuki said.
