On July 10, 2020, Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku of the Milimani Law Courts issued an order halting the EACC's investigation into a property along Matumbo Road owned by Primrose Mweu, the wife of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

The order, which was issued on June 23, had authorized the EACC to access the property, but Mutuku stayed the order, citing the need for fairness and justice.

The EACC had obtained an order allowing them to conduct a scrutiny of the property, which hosts Sonko's private office, but the order was suspended by Mutuku.

Primix Enterprise Limited, the company that owns the property, had disputed the ownership of the land with Kenya Railways Scheme, with both parties claiming to be the rightful owners.

According to lawyer Harrison Kinyajui, who represents Primix, the premises were not situated in Upper Hill as shown by the EACC, and referred to previous orders sought by the agency as malicious.

Primix has affirmed that it bought the parcel labeled 209/6507 from Kenya Railways Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme, and that the agreement to lease the property for utilization as office space was initiated in May 22, 2017.
