Manchester City Football Club is set to learn the outcome of their appeal against a two-year ban from UEFA competitions on Monday, July 13, 2020. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced the decision date on Friday.

The ban, which was handed down by UEFA, includes a 30 million euro fine for allegedly overstating sponsorship revenue to hide non-compliance with financial fair-play (FFP) rules between 2012 and 2016. Manchester City has consistently denied the allegations.

City holds an 11-point lead in the Premier League and is on the verge of securing Champions League qualification. However, if their ban is upheld or reduced to one season, the team that finishes fifth in the league will take their Champions League spot.

Manchester City will be able to complete their 2019/20 Champions League campaign regardless of the outcome of the appeal. They hold a 2-1 lead over Real Madrid in the last 16 and will host the Spanish giants on August 7 in the return match.
