On Sunday, 9pm, Winny Kulangwa, 24, allegedly threw her three children into the swollen River Nzoia before jumping in. The bodies of Kulangwa and her one-year-old child were retrieved from the river on Tuesday evening, nine days after a similar incident in Naivasha.
According to Bungoma North Sub-County Police Commander Stephen Mwoni, preliminary investigations suggest that Kulangwa may have been stressed by a domestic feud with her husband. The police are now investigating what led to the tragic incident.
Chief Kennedy Wamalwa, Sirakaru Location, said the one-year-old boy was still tied to his mother's back when the bodies were discovered. The body of the four-year-old was discovered at noon on Tuesday, four kilometres away from Nzoia River Bridge.
