Dr. Doreen Lugaliki, a healthcare worker, lost her life to COVID-19 on July 9, 2020, at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi. Her last WhatsApp conversation with a friend has been shared, providing a glimpse into her final moments.

According to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, Dr. Lugaliki contracted the virus while saving others who had caught the disease. He paid tribute to her during his daily briefing, saying, "On behalf of the Government, I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to her family. I say pole pole sana. I have spoken to her father and two sisters. I want to say it is a sad day for our healthcare workers."

CS Kagwe also observed a one-minute silence in honour of Dr. Lugaliki. A friend, @ManuuNgesh, shared their last WhatsApp conversation, which has left many heartbroken.

Dr. Lugaliki's brother has also shared a touching post, mourning her loss and expressing his gratitude for her selfless service.
