On July 10, 2020, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced that Kenyan athlete Alex Korio has been issued a two-year ban for Whereabouts Failure, an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV).
Korio missed three doping tests between January and July 2019, but admitted liability for the missed tests and accepted the proposed consequences.
According to the AIU, Korio's authorized representative responded on his behalf on April 9, 2020, stating that the athlete did not request a hearing and that he admitted the Anti-Doping Rule Violation.
On June 10, 2020, Korio accepted the proposed consequences by signing and returning an Admission of Anti-Doping Rule Violation and Acceptance of Consequences Form.
As a result, Korio's two-year ban will commence on July 19, 2019, and will end on July 18, 2021. Additionally, all competitive results obtained by the athlete between July 19, 2019, and March 17, 2020, will be disqualified with all resulting consequences.
Korio is a talented athlete who has represented Kenya at the 2019 World Athletics Championship and won the 2017 Bengaluru 10km run championship.
