On July 10, 2020, Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) Director-General Mohamed Badi unveiled his ambitious plan to revamp Nairobi's informal settlements, promising a new face in the city within the next 100 days.

Speaking to Horizon TV, General Badi emphasized the importance of delivering on his tasks, which include setting up 24 fully functional hospitals in Nairobi's informal settlements, equipped with complete medical facilities for residents.

He also highlighted the need to increase bed capacity in other hospitals, including Mama Lucy Hospital, which is being upgraded to a Level 4 hospital.

Addressing the water shortage in the county, General Badi revealed that NMS had already dug 96 boreholes to supply water and was planning to drill another 100 boreholes, each with a pump and stainless steel tank for 24-hour delivery.

Additionally, the NMS Director announced plans to deploy other measures to make water supply in the county efficient, including the Northern Water Connector Tunnel, which will supply water to the capital and significantly reduce water rationing in the next two to three months.

Another notable initiative is the expansion of non-motorized pathways in the Central Business District (CBD), with plans to connect the entire CBD with walkways and cyclists' paths, eventually extending to all estates.

General Badi also emphasized the importance of ensuring all traffic lights are working in the county to restore order in the city.
