Kenya has been grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020, with the total samples tested now standing at 206,584.
On July 10, 2020, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that the country had recorded 473 new cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19), bringing the total cases reported so far to 9,448.
The cases were recorded from 6,979 samples tested in the last 24 hours, with 324 being male and 149 female. The youngest case reported was 1 year, while the oldest was 90 years.
CS Kagwe also mourned the loss of Dr. Adisa Lugaliki, Kenya's first medic to succumb to Coronavirus, and lauded health workers who have placed their lives on the line to serve and protect Kenyans.
According to CS Kagwe, 42 out of 47 counties had recorded coronavirus, with Nairobi leading with 5,188 cases.
"It is a sad day for all of us and we ask God to protect for their families. Let us all pray for our health care workers," CS Kagwe said.
"On behalf of the nation and the government, I send condolences to the family of the fallen doctor," Kagwe eulogised.
Additionally, 76 people recovered from Covid-19, bringing the total tally of recoveries to 2,733. Eight patients passed away in the last 24 hours, with the death toll rising to 181.
