Kenya has recorded a significant increase in COVID-19 cases, with 473 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of positive cases to 9448, according to the Ministry of Health.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced the new cases during a visit to Kilifi County, where he handed over donations to Governor Amason Kingi. The donations included face masks, sanitizers, and other essential items.

Out of the 473 new cases, 468 are Kenyans, while 5 are foreigners. The cases are distributed across various counties, with Nairobi reporting the highest number of cases at 316.

The youngest positive case is a one-year-old child, while the oldest is 90 years old. The Ministry of Health has also reported that 76 patients have been discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2733.

Speaking in Kilifi County, Kagwe expressed concern over the high number of male cases, with 324 males testing positive compared to 149 females. He attributed this to the behavior of men, who are more likely to visit overcrowded places.

The Ministry of Health has also reported a steady rise in cases, with 42 counties now reporting infections. Kilifi County has reported 74 cases, with 3 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.

Governor Amason Kingi has warned residents to exercise good behavior, as the cessation of movement is no longer in place. He emphasized the need for residents to observe the laid-down guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus.
