On July 10, 2020, John Githaiga, a taxi driver from Embakasi, made history by winning Ksh505,692 on Odibets after an 11-team multibet prediction.
Githaiga, an ardent football fan, placed his bet via SMS, predicting an over 2.5 goals for all the eleven matches in his bet slip.
"At first, I thought I was dreaming when I saw the congratulations message on my phone," Githaiga said, recalling the moment he received the news of his win.
With his winnings, Githaiga plans to better the lives of his family and expand his taxi business.
Odibets lead bookmaker, Daniel Macharia, presented Githaiga with his cheque, marking a significant milestone in the growth of SMS betting in the country.
