Kenya's First Doctor to Die from Covid-19 Identified

On July 10, 2020, Kenya mourned the loss of its first doctor to Covid-19, Dr. Doreen Adisa Lugaliki, a dedicated gynaecologist.

Dr. Lugaliki, who worked at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), passed away on a Friday morning, leaving behind a family and colleagues who remembered her as hardworking and vibrant.

The Kenyan Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) paid tribute to Dr. Lugaliki in a statement posted on their official Facebook account, expressing condolences to her family and friends.

Colleagues of Dr. Lugaliki also took to social media to mourn her loss, with Dr. Mercy Korir of KTN describing her as a young doctor with much to offer, and Dr. Sewe Saldanha and Dr. Mumbi Kimotho sharing their own memories of working with Dr. Lugaliki.
