On July 10, 2020, a dramatic turn of events unfolded in the life of Sirisia Member of Parliament John Waluke, as a 33-year-old tycoon, Moses Nandalwe, offered to bail him out of prison.

Waluke was ordered to pay a fine of Ksh 727 million or serve 67 years in jail after being charged with defrauding the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) Ksh300 in a maize scandal.

Nandalwe, who aspires to contest against the Sirisia Parliamentary seat incumbent in the 2022 General polls, stated that he had been asked repeatedly to put politics aside and help the lawmaker.

"I have been asked repeatedly after Waluke's conviction to put politics aside and help him. It should be known to all that I do not condone corruption. My desire is to help everyone and through my Nandalwe Foundation, I aid everyone who needs help, including Waluke," Nandalwe stated.

Nandalwe also revealed that the MP's wife had approached him to support them bail Waluke out, refuting claims that he influenced Waluke's sentencing to strengthen his political bid ahead of the 2022 polls.
