Taxpayers Foot Bill for Governor Joho's Luxurious Dubai Trip

On July 10, 2020, Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed embarked on a luxurious trip to Dubai, courtesy of Kenyan taxpayers.

The duo flew on a private Airbus A318-112 jet, which costs Ksh 1.3 million per hour. For the five hours they used to land in Dubai, the bill came to Ksh 6.5 million, making the return ticket a whopping Ksh 13 million.

According to reports, the plane's crew may charge them extra for food and drinks based on their preferences, as well as for the hours spent on the ground in Nairobi and Dubai before jetting back to Nairobi.

The private jet, which can accommodate 19 passengers, boasts an entourage lounge, a VIP dining area, a private office, and a VIP bedroom.
