On July 10, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that all pastors aged 58 and above should pray from home to help combat the spread of COVID-19 in Kenya.

However, in a recent development, Africa Gospel Church (AGC) has relaxed its restrictions, allowing elderly pastors to conduct mass in its churches across the country.

According to a circular issued by Bishop Rev Dr Robert Lang'at on behalf of the Central Management Council of AGC, the new protocols will be implemented in areas where no advanced replacement has been made when church services resume on July 14.

"For pastors over 58 years of age, if no other pastoral arrangement has been made, may offer pastoral leadership," said Rev Lang'at.

While on pulpit, the elderly pastors must adhere to stringent measures, including keeping a record of all attendees and using a thermo gun to measure body temperature before every faithful enters the church.

The church has also emphasized the importance of high hygiene standards and disinfecting the church sanctuaries.

"All pastors must also ensure that cleaning and disinfecting of the church sanctuaries and amenities is done immediately before and after every service," added Rev Lang'at.
