Five Passengers Killed in Machakos-Kitui Road Accident

Published on July 10, 2020, a tragic accident occurred on the Machakos-Kitui road, claiming the lives of five passengers.

The incident involved three vehicles, including two 14-seater matatus and a lorry, which collided at Kingaatuani.

According to Machakos County Government Emergency Services Director David Mwongela, a lorry crashed head-on into a matatu, followed by another PSV crashing into the wreckage, resulting in further casualties.

At least 262 motorcyclists have lost their lives on the road since the year began, as per the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) data.

Compared to 2019, the number of motorcyclist fatalities is slightly higher, with 204 motorcyclists losing their lives by the same date.

Overall, 1,022 people have lost their lives since the year began, compared to 1,058 who died in 2019.
