KNH Nurse Charged with Forgery and Uttering False COVID-19 Test Reports

On July 9, 2020, Deleven Enock Moses, a nurse at Kenyatta National Hospital, and Samwel Shikanda Alukwe, a hotelier, appeared before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Sinkiyian Tobiko, charged with 11 counts of uttering a false document.

The alleged false documents were COVID-19 test reports, which the two were accused of purporting to be genuine documents issued by the national referral facility.

According to the state, the two committed the offence at KNH's infectious unit, located at Mbagathi Hospital, on July 5, 2020.

Furthermore, Deleven Enock Moses, the KNH nurse, is facing 29 counts in three different files for allegedly forging COVID-19 results for over 20 patients.

The alleged forgeries took place at the High Rise Estate in Ngumo, Nairobi County.

The two denied the offences and were released on varying bond terms, with Deleven Enock Moses granted a cash bail of Sh150,000 and a personal bond of Sh500,000, and Samwel Shikanda Alukwe given Sh50,000 cash bail.

Magistrate Sinkiyian Tobiko released the nurse on a cash bail of Sh150k and a personal bond of Sh500k, while the hotelier was released on a cash bail of Sh50k.
