On July 9, 2020, Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho took to Twitter to clear the air about the ownership of a handbag that had sparked a heated debate among Kenyans.
Sharing a photo of himself on a flight to Dubai, Joho captioned it: 'Arrived safely in Dubai. Thank you for the wonderful flight Capt David Cutajar and the crew.@JunetMohamed.'
However, keen Kenyans had already spotted the same bag on one of the former K24 TV anchor and media personality Betty Kyalo's photos that trended on social media platforms.
Despite Joho clearing the air, Kenyans went ahead to ask for the owner of the third plate and bugger which were served on Joho and Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed's table as they were traveling to Dubai to visit the ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Some users questioned the crew's actions, with one user saying: 'Kwani hao ni wazungu mwitu wabebe hizo bags? Flight crew don’t carry such bags, much less whites….fichueni hiyo mkamba anapiga picha.'
Another user weighed in, saying: 'Cabin crew don’t keep their personal belongings under your legs. Either way, we know the photographer Betty. Mlichoma kitaaaambo jamaa.'
