Published on July 9, 2020, a photo of a brown bag sparked rumors that former K24 TV news anchor Betty Kyallo had traveled to Dubai with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed.
The two lawmakers had visited the ODM leader, Raila Odinga, in Dubai, where he underwent surgery. However, the photo of the brown bag was compared to an old photo of Betty carrying a similar handbag, leading to speculation that she had traveled with the two lawmakers.
Responding to the rumors, Betty Kyallo said, 'Hey people, I here that I traveled to Dubai. Anyways, I am not in Dubai and I am going to enjoy lunch with my friend. We are going to get some Nyama Choma delicacy.'
She further asked her fans to stay calm and stop listening to the rumors, stating that she was in the country running her errands.
