Robert Burale's Covid-19 Scandal Rocks Kenya ¶
On Tuesday, a video surfaced online showing motivational speaker Robert Burale in a hospital bed, sparking widespread outrage among Kenyans.
Burale, who was well-groomed in a T-shirt and cap with oxygen pipes around his nose, was accused of faking a Covid-19 diagnosis for financial gain.
Netizens quickly called out the popular preacher, citing evidence of his dark past and accusing him of taking advantage of Kenyans for monetary gain.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe was forced to address the issue, clarifying whether the Ministry of Health had paid Burale to act like a Covid-19 patient.
However, Kagwe's response left many Kenyans in shock, as he claimed he didn't know who Burale was and wondered who had paid him to fake his illness.
"I never heard of this guy. You are saying he has been paid, paid by who?.. Why would he be pretending? I don’t know anything about Robert Burale. I don’t know what he is doing and he’s probably sick," Kagwe said.
Burale later responded to the allegations, stating that it was not his place to respond to Kenyans' opinions.
