On Thursday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that Kenya has confirmed 447 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 8,975.
The new cases were identified from 3,803 samples tested in Kenya in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 200,311.
The 447 positive cases are distributed across various counties, with Nairobi recording the highest number of cases at 318, followed by Kiambu with 33 cases, and Kajiado with 25 cases.
According to the Health CS, the cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi (318), Kiambu (33), Kajiado (25), Nakuru (23), Machakos (18), Mombasa (14), Uasin-Gishu (7), Busia (3), Laikipia (2), Kericho (1), Makueni (1), Migori (1), and Turkana (1).
At the sub-county level, the cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi (318), with the highest number of cases in Dagoretti North (70), followed by Westlands (43), and Kibra (40).
Four more patients have succumbed to the coronavirus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 173.
Meanwhile, 64 people have recovered from the virus, raising the number of recoveries to 2,657.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe made the announcement during the daily coronavirus briefing in Mombasa on Thursday.
